Aromatic plants and Aromatherapy

One of the most difficult aspects of dealing with dementia patients is treating agitation and hostility, which are characteristic Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSDs) of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Aromatherapy is gaining popularity as a treatment for agitation, violence, and psychotic symptoms, with clinical data to back it up. Some molecular processes have been postulated to explain the behavioral effects of essential oils, either as a full Phyto complex or as individual components, but a more basic study is required.
